Al Maryah Island is Abu Dhabi's business and lifestyle island: home to Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the Four Seasons and Rosewood hotels, The Galleria luxury mall, and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Its residential towers — mostly premium waterfront apartments — house finance and healthcare professionals who can walk to the office, the clinic, or dinner.
It is the capital's answer to a downtown financial district, with a waterfront promenade, skyline views across to the Corniche, and the city's most polished work-live proposition.
Al Maryah suits professionals who measure life in walking minutes: espresso downstairs, desk in the ADGM towers, gym and dinner at The Galleria, and a promenade run at sunset. The residential community is smaller and more corporate than Reem Island's, with serviced-apartment convenience and hotel-grade amenities inside the towers.
Bridges link Al Maryah to the Corniche (5 minutes), Saadiyat (10), and Al Reem Island next door, while Sheikh Zayed Bridge routes run south to the mainland and airport in about 25 minutes. Taxis are constant around the hotels and hospital, and many residents walk the full island — it is one of Abu Dhabi's few genuinely pedestrian-scaled districts.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is the island's anchor institution and one of the region's top hospitals. For schools, families typically drive to British International School Abu Dhabi alternatives on the mainland side, Reem Island schools, or Cranleigh on Saadiyat — roughly 10–15 minutes each way — with nurseries available at The Galleria level.
The Galleria Al Maryah Island delivers luxury brands, the city's strongest fine-dining row (Zuma, LPM, COYA among neighbours), cinemas, and family entertainment levels. The waterfront promenade hosts national-day fireworks and seasonal markets, and the Four Seasons and Rosewood add rooftops and spas. For everyday groceries, Waitrose and local services sit inside the mall complex.

For small families who value location, yes — The Galleria's family levels and the promenade help — but there is no school on the island, so school-age children mean a daily drive to Reem, Saadiyat, or the mainland.
Maryah is smaller, newer, and more premium — a business island with luxury apartments. Reem is far larger and more residential with wider price ranges. The two are connected by bridge and share amenities.
